The AdvisoryPLLC
Eugene Coleman Jr. is an Associate Attorney with The Advisory Incorporated, where he advises clients across corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, fund formation, independent sponsor matters, and strategic investment initiatives. His work focuses on helping founders, investors, sponsors, operators, and growth-stage companies structure transactions, evaluate risk, organize capital, and move from opportunity to execution.
Eugene brings a transaction-oriented background shaped by law, technology, athletics, public service, and private-market investing. Before joining The Advisory, he worked as a Corporate Private Equity Associate at McGuireWoods, where he focused on private equity transactions, venture capital matters, deal structuring, diligence, and corporate execution across sophisticated transactional environments.
During law school, Eugene worked as a Legal Intelligence Analyst at Evisort, an artificial-intelligence contract management platform. In that role, he supported the programming and testing of contract-clause intelligence, assisted with sales and enterprise implementation, and contributed to internal organizational workflows. That experience gives him a practical understanding of how legal technology, contract systems, and enterprise operations intersect.
Eugene earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law, where he concentrated his legal studies on corporate law, transactional drafting, business associations, startup and entrepreneurship law, trademark law, and federal income tax. He also studied at St. Thomas University School of Law before transferring to Miami Law.
Before law school, Eugene earned his Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he studied Pre-Law, Politics and Government, and Spanish. He was also a three-sport varsity athlete, competing in football, basketball, and track and field. That background informs his approach to preparation, discipline, negotiation, and execution under pressure.
Eugene’s broader experience includes public-sector work connected to the U.S. House of Representatives, startup leadership, venture capital exposure, and advisory work involving investors, operators, athletes, and business owners. His practice sits at the intersection of legal structure, capital strategy, ownership transitions, and practical business execution.
“Good transaction strategy is not just about closing the deal. It is about structuring the opportunity so the capital, control, incentives, and risk all line up before execution.”
Eugene advises clients through the full lifecycle of business ownership and investment activity, from entity formation and early-stage structuring to acquisition strategy, capital raises, fund formation, governance, and exit planning. His combination of legal training, private equity experience, legal technology exposure, and athletic discipline allows him to translate complex transaction issues into practical next steps for clients operating in competitive markets.
